Tenoperiostitis
Tenoperiostitis is inflammation of the periosteum, which is the point where the muscles attach to the bone. This commonly occurs to the muscles that attach to the inside of the tibia. The two most common muscles that this affects is tibialis posterior (fig 3) and soleus (fig 4), both of which attach to the medial border of the tibia (fig 2).
Symptoms:
- Tenderness on the medial border of the tibia.
- Pain is often worse following exercise and the following morning.
- Pain diminishes with warming up, prior to exercise.
- Associated numbness and pins and needles may be present.
